Im building my 1st 2 piece rod blank and looking for any advice that might come in handle. Any tips or what not to do's would be appreciated. Its a freshwater rod

Not enough information! Only suggestion.....be sure to put a wrap on the female end of the ferrule.

Knowing what type of rod (fly, spin, bait cast) and what type ferrules (sleeve over, spigot, Swiss) would be helpful to give on-point advice.

Nonetheless, it's just like a one piece except you'll probably want or need to make a ferrule reinforcing wrap on the female ferrule or wrap both male and female if a spigot ferrule.

Sounds like you have built one piece rods before so if thats the case there's really not anything different except as mentioned you can add a ferrule wrap, some blank manufacturers recommend it but just as many say it's not needed . I used to wrap ferrules but haven't recently even on my CTS 12 foot surf rod , no issues whatsoever as i was assured by the CTS staff that there's absolutely no need whatsoever and it would just add unneeded weight but everyones different .

If you have a habit of throwing more weight than the blanks listed recommended ratings i would add a wrap however.

Its a 9' light power moderate action 4-8lb line 1/16-3/8 oz lure freshwater rod

Put the rod sections together and build the rod as a one piece rod. Really nothing unusual about building a multi section rod.

The only thing that you need to worry about is where guides are placed with respect to joints on a multi piece rod. Obviously don't place a guide so that it crosses a joint. If the guide is close to a joint, then, if you want the guide on the larger overlapping side of the joint, you can place the guide right at the joint. But, if you are placing the guide on the smaller section of the joint, you want to assemble the rod and then insure that the completed guide foot and thread wraps and finish will all be at least 1/2 inch away from the overlapping larger side of the joint. Over time, with blank wear, the larger side of the joint will naturally slide further down the smaller section of blank. When it does move down, you do not want a guide foot, wraps or thread finish to be in the way of this expected movement.
