I got this rod from a friend. It has the Horrocks Ibbotson "Genuine Tonkin Cane" label, with "President" written in white ink toward the grip. 9 foot, 3 sections, 1 tip, all the same length. The previous owner attempted to refinish it by sanding and varnishing it. All the guides are there but the guide wraps have deteriorated. Bottom line, he wants me to bring it back to usable condition.I can do that. Just wondering about when it was made. Thanks, Dick Re: Split Bamboo Spinning Rod

The information that I have, is that the "President" rod was a, early 1920's high quality fly rod, not a spinning rod.
If it is truly a President model it is not a spinning rod, and if it is truly a spinning rod, it was made much later. A photo of the decal will help date the rods manufacture. Re: Split Bamboo Spinning Rod
