Looking at building a rod using MHX P842-2 2 pc 7' blank. I am just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this blank. I typically like to fish with lighter tackle and rods than most would recommend. I don't like feeling like I am reeling a fish in with a broom handle for a rod. It will be used for anything from surface poppers to light jigs with soft plastics for anything from large mouths up to 18" and striped bass/speckled trout to 24 inches typically. Re: blank opinions

That's a good blank for what you want to do. I have a similar blank on a spinning rod but it is a one piece that I have caught smaller bass to 8# redfish on. It is a little on the light end more than medium but it has performed well. Re: blank opinions

I just got that blank in Friday. Building a casting rod on it... I too like a little action in my rods for smooth casting. You can put plenty of pressure on a fish with a med action rod. Just getting back into rod building after a few decades... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
