Ok folks Im building a 9' 2 piece freshwater rod and need advice on guides. What are the best quality at a good price. Not necessarily looking for cheap but quality. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Many good choices. I will toss this out just because they tend to be a bridge between snakes and ceramics - Pac Bay Minima 4 guides. Light, smooth and good size actual line opening for the weight.

What kind of rod?

Unless it's a fly rod, I think the Fuji KTAG guides are hard to beat as running guides. Heck, I even use the titanium version on fly rods.

If it's a spinning rod, I use the KWAG for the reduction guides, and again the titanium version if I really want light.

The "A" stands for Alconite, which is Fuji speak for a high quality aluminum oxide ceramic ring, which to me is their best value. Never had a single issue with them.

X2 on the Fuji Alconite rings. If you are going to use it only in fresh water then SS or painted SS frames will be fine. There really is not much of a weight difference in SS vs Ti. It will be the ring material that makes more of a difference in weight and Alconite is lighter than SIC.
