Hey Herb,
Thank you so much for the kind words. Ditto dealing with you. Regards, Herb Re: Acetone on CTS blank

This is something I've never thought about. I don't think I've ever purchased Acetone in my life. Re: Acetone on CTS blank

Acetone is a more powerful solvent then DNA. Cleans up epoxy better/faster. But I rarely use it - I favor DNA myself.

When working with Epoxy, I will use Xylene now and then.
Xylene is used by manufacturers of epoxy as a diluent to adjust the viscosity of the materials. Although acetone will work, Xylene is more perfectly matched to the chemical characteristics of epoxy and thus works better than nearly any other solvent for cleaning such products. BUT - as with Acetone - this is a highly volatile and toxic product that should not be inhaled or allowed to touch bare skin since it can be ingested through the skin. But it is unbeatable if you need to do changes to an epoxy mixture. ------------------- You can easily do a test with various products. Just take some small paper or glass cups and put in a bit of epoxy mixture. Then, put in a touch of alcohol - DNA and stir the mixture a couple of times. Repeat with new epoxy mixture in a new cup with both acetone as well as Xylene. You will find that DNA essentially does not mix with the epoxy. i.e. it stays by itself in the form of DNA droplets in the mixture. But, you will find that to a good degree Acetone mixes nicely with epoxy and to a very good degree Xylene mixes perfectly with the epoxy mixture. Hence the use of the latter chemicals for both reducing the viscosity of the epoxy as well as cleaning up and removing the epoxy in its various stages of curing. BUT __ USE these chemicals with caution and with appropriate ventilation and shin and body protection. Be safe Re: Acetone on CTS blank

Yeah Roger - Xylene is VERY hot stuff.
I used it once to mix with some epoxy paint for my boat. Very scary stuff. Is that is what bis in Permagloss?? Herb Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
