CRB Blanks and American Tackle Blanks

I was looking at the Vertical Jigging Blanks from CRB and American Tackle. Oddly enough, they have the exact same specs. I was wondering, if they are made by the same manufactor and just relabeled? My family owns grocery stores, and I have seen many distributors do this, re-brand an item, and sell it as their own version. But physically, they are the same, made in the same place, just a different sticker and price.

Doing a little more research and I dug up this old post, which confirms my suspicion. [rodbuilding.org]

So my question now is, is there any quality difference between the AT version and the CRB version? Thanks!

I would say why would there be,yet there are many possibilities as to why not. Differences in proprietary pre-peg materials, etc. Take a chance on either one. You ought to be okay. Both produce quality products.

Alan Hawk did a good write up on rebranding but it was aimed at spinning reels.

They ARE NOT the same blanks re-labeled...

I cannot speak for the CRB blanks but I can tell you the ATX VJ blanks are among the best on the market. They are widely used all over the world by custom builders and rod manufacturers alike.

Give them a try, you will like them.

Hey Don,
Do you know if American Tackle makes the blanks for CRB? I have seen this be stated twice, once on RodBuilding.org and also on a French Rod Building website.

If you saw that claim from an American Tackle employee then I would say it is true, if not then I would say it is not.
