CTS 12.6 3 - 6 2 piece guide spacing

I just recently picked up the 12.6 CTS 3 to 6 2 piece blank amd was wondering if anyone had a guide spacing to start out static testing with. 27x rule im not sure really works for float rods. Im using alps titanium zirc guides. Sizes 20,16,12,10,then 8s running. Im assuming ill be using 12 or 13 guides plus tip on this build. My reels going to be about 8 to 10 inches to front of it from butt. 4.5 inch reel.

Thanks in advance

It will work for a float rod, but you never pre-select the guide sizes - you let the line path dictate what sizes you need.

Glenn,
I would use a 20,12 and 8 to the tip with the 20 at 18 inches from the face of the reel. Then, just space the other guides in such a position to load the blank when the blank is under full load.

Good luck

As a rule, I typically place my stripper guide at 24"-28" from the CENTER of the reel, 90% of the time I place it at 26". Tape the stripper guide on at that point, size 20 high frame will be acceptable with a 4.5" reel, and measure back from the tip. Give me that measurement, and
I'll bet I've got something that will get you darn close. I don't use Alps, and the heights are a bit different from fuji, so you will need to adjust things a bit.

Id be looking at stripper guide being at 113.2inches from tip. Jay. Tom fpr the 27x rule would i be using the width of the spool centerpin or the face size? Example width of spool would be around 1.25 to 1.5 inch where the face of the spool would be 4.5 to 5 in some cases. Thanks for responses

Sorry for the delay Glen, I kinda forgot about you. This spacing was laid out with Y-frame Fuji's. You may need to adjust the 2nd and 3rd guides a bit on your butt section, or perhaps swap the 12h for a 10h, but it will get you really close. From the tip-top or tip guide if you're wrapping a guide on the tip.

4.5,9.5,15.5,22.5,30.5,39.5,49.5,60.5,72.5,85.5,99.0,113.5. Guide sizes 20H, 16H, 12H, 8H, the rest will be dependent on what you use for running guides.

I highly, highly doubt you would want more guides than this. I have done a few 12'6" spey-cons that used less guides so I would say you could spread things out and leave out a guide or two if you wish.

Thanks alot. Thats a great help. Now to decide on handle and then do some static testing from there.
