Med /Hvy SW spinning rod layout

A good buddy of mine swaped me a conventional SW reel in exchange for a custom built rod he could use in the gulf for Cobia or AJ's, either freelining or making long casts. It has to be an 8' rod with a aluminum reel seat big enough for either a 6000 or 8000 reel, full EVA grips and double foot guides with a gimble.

I selected a Rainshadow SW967, a forecast reel seat and a standard gimble. My question is I love the KR concept guide layout and how they cast country mile, but the KL-H guides are single foot and I don't think they are stout enough for this type of fishing plus the website doesn't have a selection for a reel above 5000.

My plan is and I'm asking for yawls expert opinions is to use the Fuji MN frames and go with sizes 30, 20, 12, 10x2 and 8x5. This puts my choke point at around 43" from the axel spool tip. I have done a static load and there don't seem to be any sharp angles.

I have to use a size 8 running guide since the tip is a 7.5 and the smallest I could find was a size 8. I compared the heights to the KL-H and KT guides and they are real close. I'm thinking of doing a few test casts with about 2 or 3 oz. weight to verify, even though I never have real good luck with test casts.

Now if I have thought way out of the box or missed something please let me know or if yawl have a better idea on the guides sizes please let me know.

30 @ 22"

20 @ 8"

12 @ 7.5"

10 @ 5"

10 @ 5"

22.5" remaining with 5 size 8's and the tip top.

I usually go 40-30-25-20-16-12 with runners 12 or 10 for my medium (40+ pound) or heavier offshore spinning rods. I usually use Fuji MNSGs. This has always worked for me. I am curious if others use a more rapid reduction train. I usually have size 10,000 or 20,000 reel. Size 60 or 8000 reel may work for what your friend wants and may work with your guide size, but I would think 40-25-20-16 guides would work better. Not sure I would want to tackle Golf AJs on a 8 foot rod. You could also use a Fuji DPSD or PacBay Channel Lock Slim reel seats. Make sure the aluminum reel seat fits the reel good, as not all of them do a good job seating spinning reel footprints.
