Hi All,
I am going to build 12wt saltwater rod and thinking to fit black snake guide. Would anyone please recommend good guide durable against the saltwater environment and color wearing? Thanks in advance. Shizen Re: black snake guide for saltwater?

RECOIL guides are great, the BLACK is applied to the guide an it will wear off , look at RECOIL GUIDES with out the black coating , just as good an the color will not wear off William Sidney AK Re: black snake guide for saltwater?

PacBay has a "TiBlack" finish on 304 stainless steel. 316 stainless is more corrosion resistant, but I could not find a black 316 snake.
Alps X series snakes are 316, but the darkest finish is TiChrome, which is nothing like black. I would contact PacBay and ask about salt application of this guide. I would think it would work fine as long as you wash the rod after every salt exposure (as one should do regardless of the components). Re: black snake guide for saltwater?

The Black Pearl REC guides are a PVD coating and I believe they are pretty durable. I have a number of friends that have them on their Loomis NRXs from the factory and I don't believe I have heard of any of them having an issue with it wearing off. Re: black snake guide for saltwater?

I recently finished 10wt with Fuji KT & KW with EVA grip and like it. Re: black snake guide for saltwater?

I have ordered black guides on the market including REC black pearl and am going to test them. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
