5000th Post!
Posted by: Tom Kirkman (---.tnt3.winston-salem.nc.da.uu.net)

Sometime early tomorrow, Rodbuilding.Org will receive its 5,000th posted message! That works out to about 1,000 per month or 225 per week or 32 posts per day. Not bad for a 5&1/2 month old website on rod building.

The reason I bring this up is to remind everyone of the wealth of information contained in the archives. Every post ever made is still there, waiting for those who may at some point need access to any or all of it. The search function is free - might as well use it.

When performing a search, try using the subject in different ways. For instance, if you want info on painting or finishing a rod blank, you might put in the subject, "blank finishing", or "coloring blanks", or "refinishing". If you wish a specific topic that contains more than one word, remember to use quotation marks to define the entire phrase, otherwise you will get matches for each word you put in.

Also notice that you can search by the author's name as well.

Not trying to discourage anyone from posting, but just wanted to make sure everyone knew that many topics have already been covered quite well and you can get immediate info just by doing a simple search. Obviously, new methods and techniques are always cropping up so it never hurts to post a question as well.

Tom, you are to be commented for this site and the sponsors that you have compiled in such a short time. The 5000th will no doubt turn into a much larger number as time goes by.
I have noticed a large amount of people that are getting into this fine art of "rod building". I do wish you and all the supporters of this site a most rewarding year to come in theirs business.
Have a safe and HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all.

Ahh man, I thought we were going to get some sort of freebie for the guy who makes the 5,000th post!!! Wishful thinking. I am roud to say that I cntributed 100 posts myself. Now if I only spent more time building rods than internetting....

Congrats.

This is the best resource for custom rod builders on the internet. Maybe anywhere for that matter.

Billy,
Your wish may be granted. And by the way, I appreciate your useful posts. They have benefitted all, I am sure.

And Tom, congratulations on a superb site. Keep it going.

Now, as a simple debt of gratitude to be part of this site as a sponsor and sometimes propagandist (referring to my participatory postings). I am going to provide a token 'prize' to the number 5000 poster on rodbuilding.org.

What is more appropriate of a prize to this poster than a poster.
That's right, I'll send a poster, or set of St. Croix Rod posters to this lucky 5000th poster. Also, they will receive a free issue of RodMaker magazine, and a FREE Hat. Something to hang in your shop or room, something to read, and something to wear.

I'll ask Tom K. who the 5000 th poster is, and make the announcement tomorrow.

Rich

Richard's Rod & Reel

p.s. Maybe, just maybe... we can con Tom Kirkman to throw in a free RodMaker hat. Do you think???

Hey Rich,
This sounds like a great idea and lots of fun! Summer Moon will throw in an assortment of Gudebrod's new Electra Holographic braid or a gift certificate for $15.00 whichever the winner prefers. Just let
us know who the the lucky person is when you find out from Tom!
