It's a long shot I know but I'm trying to track down an old Allstar Austin 10/11wt fly blank to build. I tried to post in the Buy/Sell but couldn't get past the Captcha part. I built a few fly rods on the old Austin and Elite series and really like them, hoping to find one for an upcoming tarpon trip. Re: Allstar Austin blanks

You'd have better luck winning the lottery, I think I have a 5 wt. somewhere, I have a PVC tube around somewhere with some fly blanks in it, they are from the Andy Dear era, with a white CTS, and others in the mixed bag. Re: Allstar Austin blanks

No doubt among the best blanks made. I have a 2-piece Allstar 8.5' #11 blank; would you be interested in it? Also bought it for tarpon but it's easier for me to travel with 4-piece rods. Re: Allstar Austin blanks

Thanks so much for the offers, I guess it just goes to show, you never know what you can find unless you ask. I actually found a 9' 10/11wt just yesterday but it's a 2 piece. I'm still interested in the the 11wt and will follow up. Thanks again! Re: Allstar Austin blanks

Joel. I think I have one of those blanks and built it out but have not used it much. my intention was throwing large flies for Northern Pike. What type of lines do you think it's better suited for throwing, Floating, Intermediate or Sinking? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
