Guide setup for CTS 8ft

Picked up 8 foot CTS elite mag 10-25gm. Looking to fish saltwater in florida using 2500-3000 shimano with up to 20 lb braid . I have a handful of fuji titanium alconite KT 7s laying around so will use them as the running guides. What do you think as far as the step down to the 7s: 25H - 16H - 10H? Unfortunately I do not have similar guides laying around to position them on the rod. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks , Mark

The 16H and 10H do not fit the height grouping with a KL25H. Try a four guide reduction group of KL25H, KL12H, KL8M, and KL7L. The KL7L would be your choke guide which would transition to your KT7 runners.

I asked about the proper KR setup recently as well and Norm posted the below:

Depending your reel size and type of line you are using I would use either a 25H, 12H, 5.5M (or 6M) train or a 20H, 10H, 5.5M (or 6M) train. Followed by the runner size of your choice. If your rod is light power with a moderate action you might go with a 4 guide transition train. Check the Anglers Resource catalog for the various four transition guide setups to use based on the reel and type of line you will use. Based upon guide height grouping the 25H and 16H don’t group together; they are a height mismatch and I would not use them together.

The reason I suggested the above KR reduction train is because Mark specifically wanted to use KT7s as running guides. The set up I mentioned makes sense for using size 7 runners. It will also allow for a larger reel and heavier line if ever needed without really affecting performance wihen using lighter line and a smaller reel. It does not hurt to upsize a little bit to get some versatility, the down side would be an increase in weight of guide train. There are always some trade offs when setting up a guide train. If I were building that CTS 8’ rod with the reel size and line mentioned I would use KL20H, KL10H, KL6M reduction guides followed by KB/KT5 runners.
