Hey guys. Glad to be part of the forum. I've been looking for something like this for a while now, hoping on learning quite a bit from you all.

I took a rod building class 4? years ago, in San Diego with MudHole. Good 2 day class and since then I've built several rods. Many for myself and some friends and I've even sold a few (?!?).

I build mostly fly rods, ultra light and light weight spinning rods, so thread size A is what I use the most of. I have built a couple casting rods that I should be able to try out in a couple of months when bass season starts up here in SoCal.

I've found there's a very fine line between too much tension and not enough when wrapping. I've noticed that when I start and complete the wrap, I get an indentation in the wrap where I've pulled the tag end under. I took pics, but don't know if (or how) I can attach.
My question is, how do I get rid of those little indentations.

When I finish the wrap, I hold the wrap and the loop with a finger. I then loosen the main line and cut it, leaving a tag end of about three inches. I put the tag end through the loop, and snug the loop against the end of the wrap, pinching the tag end. I then cut the tag end to a shorter length than the length of wrap that holds the loop. I then pinch the wrap with a fingernail to prevent pulling the tag end too far. I also pull the tag end through at an angle and hide the tag end under the wrap.

When you say "indentation", I take it you are referring to the edge of the wrap not being perfectly straight? i.e. the edge is pushed in a bit, at the point where the tag end was pulled through. If so, you might try using a smooth cylindrical burnishing tool to gently roll out (not rub) the wrap, in the direction it needs to go.

Pinching down the wrap and pulling the tag end at a 45 degree angle towards yourself, as mentioned, does help.

I actually contacted RodGeeks and asked if they had some broken blanks that they were just going to throw out and if so, could I have them. $10 for shipping and I have about 8 varying sized pieces of blanks. I've been practicing.
I'll try the suggestions.
