I've collected data on numerous ice fishing rod blanks and amassed them in a single database to share with other builders. The database provides a quantitative means to compare ice rod blanks based on their dimensions which directly relates to strength/stiffness per inch of blank length. Blanks are classified by material, and material/power. There is also a section with links to ice blank suppliers and a builders notebook with details on blank application and modification. I update the database regularly with blanks I've obtained and profile along with data from other folks as noted. Anyone can send me blank data to matpeirce@gmail.com and I will add the numbers as soon as possible. I started this as a project to help other builders answer common questions when trying to select the appropriate blank for specific needs.

You can download the Microsoft Excel sheet directly from the page or through Google Docs.

To compare specific blanks on a sheet simply hide the columns of the spreadsheet you do not want visible on the chart or click the Filter funnel on the chart itself
