Happy Monday.

Well after 18 years the foot pedal that came with my original Renzetti lathe (before they were solid state) has bit the dust. As much as I've loved the snap crackle and pop over the years I want to replace it with a solid state pedal and be done.

This particular lathe is set up in my dirty area and is used only for turning. I do not wrap under power so fine control is not necessary. I am usually running it wide open.

I have seen Foredom pedals recommended here. Do I need any accessories or adaptors? Or can I just buy any old Foredom pedal, wire it in, and it will work? Thanks!

No, just buy the Foredom pedal that is set for 110v ac, or standard US house voltage:

I believe that the motor on your setup draws 2 amps, so this 4 amp pedal will have plenty of capacity.

A foot pedal is very nice if one is doing wrapping and need both hands to do the wrapping.
But, if you are doing only turning, why have a foot pedal?

A speed controller - commonly used for a router - will control your speed perfectly, and you can have it right at hand by your turning station to stop, start, and adjust the speed of the lathe when turning.

Or, if you choose, you could buy one of each, so you could use either a hand control speed dial, or a foot control speed dial.

I know that in my "dirty area" the floor can sometimes get rather crusty if I am in the middle of a turning session and I much prefer a hand controlled speed control right by the lathe motor.
