Try it and see how your line looks going through the guides, Remember the line comes off the spool as a coil and the bottom of the coil would be defined by the bottom of the spool. I find when I use my method as outlined above I get a very smooth casting rod. I know some people use the spool shaft as the reference and this would define the center of the coil. Different strokes for different folks! Believe me it works very well. In theory, guides are placed to effectively gather and control the line coils coming off the reel and by the time the line reaches the choke guide the coils are effectively ‘choked’ down and the line shoots and ‘runs’ smoothly through the low profile running guides. The faster you choke the line the less line slap you have which means less friction and thus Increased distance. The stripper, transition, and choke guides represent the guides responsible for gathering and choking down the line coils, so in my visualization method you would see a straight line from the bottom of the spool to the bottom of the stripper, transition and choke guides. The runners are used to smoothly carry the uncoiled line from the choke guide to the tip. So in my method you would see another straight line from the bottom of the choke guide to the bottom of the tip top. Thus you will see a slight angle change in the line at the choke guide. In your case you are using three guides to get to the choke guide, the Microwave guide system uses two guides to get to the choke guide. In the old cone of flight method for positioning guides the line was gradually controlled by gradually reducing the size of the guides, this was not nearly as effective as a more rapid choke system for guide placement.that you are using.

I understand , i only changed to the 3 guide reduction train based on comments from others but to be honest in real world casting i don't think minor changes to this stuff makes a noticeable difference .
Next step is to test cast a few different spacings and decide . Thanks for all your help it's very much appreciated and this goes for all who have commented in this thread i thank you very much.
