About when did rod builders stop making (cane) fly rods with guides composed of rings dangling from thread-wrapped keepers?

Not sure but snake guides came into use somewhere around 1870 from the German / Austria area. I have seen cane rods made in the 1930s with those types of rings. Can't remember who made the rod though.

From 1890 to 1910 as I was told by an appraiser of the rod I have.
