Friends:
Planning a family-semi-work trip to southeast Alaska, in the area around Juneau. The time period is the first part of July. I am a newbie to Alaska, but have been focusing on building fly rods which I now have on hand. The quarry will be sockeye, pinks and chum (in that order of preference). I realized that there's a whole spinning thing as well. What are the general dimensions/ line-lure ratings of a good all around spinning rod? This will be bank fishing. Any guidance appreciated! I don't know the rivers in Juneau so the answer depends on how wide and fast the rivers are.
I toss spoons in Southern B.C. rivers for coho and I find that the Mudhole ST1022-MHx (8'6" 4-8lb,3/16-1/2oz, ERN 10.4, AA 75) is too light for even medium sized Chum. It is fine for coho and pinks. I built a casting rod for a buddy for steelhead, coho, and chum using XST1263F (8-12lb, 3/8-3/4oz, ERN 12.55, AA 72) and it casts spoons beautifully. Re: Alaska Spinning Rod for Salmon
