Tip top ring size

Hey everyone first post here. I am on around my 3rd build as i just started and had a question. I am building a Rod Geeks 7 H froggin pole and the guide layout goes 12-10-8-6-6-6-6. Tip is 6.5. I was thinking of going with the fuji medium duty spin/cast MN. Braid will be the line of choice. My question is should i always stay with a ring size on the tip as the same as the first guide after the tip. In other words should i go with a 6 or drop down. Actually it is a question for future rods also.
Thanks in advance
John

it won't be an issue if the tip top is a bit bigger unless it is a lot bigger like an 8 or 10 ring as then it would look kind of out of place

John,
You can use any size tip top that you wish.

On some blanks it is difficult to get a tip top that might be as small as the running guides. In that case, I generally just go with the tip top that is close to the running guides.

For some rods, especially for those using swivels or other terminal hardware, the use of a larger tip top is often to the advantage of the user.

Sometimes one uses a fishing rod during freezing conditions, it is generally to the advantage of the user to use a larger tip top, sometimes a much larger tip top to minimize issues with ice on the line during cold weather fishing.

Good luck
