Looking for some suggestions on a 7 ft blank for throwing 1 - 1.5 oz glide baits such as the Megabass I Slide 135, Jackall Ganterel Jr and Gan Craft 148 from shore. Not sure where to even start. Glide baits are new territory for me. Do I want glass, composite, graphite. . . Heavy powered crankbait blank, something like the Phenix Recon heavy or maybe X-11, inshore / light saltwater? I'd prefer to keep it on the lesser expensive side of things Re: 7 ft blank for glide baits

Mark, I'd check out Tackle Warehouse or similar and see what rods they sell for those baits and go from there. That would get you in the ballpark. Re: 7 ft blank for glide baits

look at fast action blanks in the lure range you will be throwing. The fast action takes less movement and strength for your baits to work. A more moderate action blank will bend with your arm movements and thus taking more effort to make the glide baits dart. I also prefer braid with a fluro leader as mono will also stretch a little. High speed gear ratio reels allow for slack line to be taken up faster as well. Good Luck.
