Finish rotation

Just curious as to which direction people rotate the rod during application of finish and if everyone applies finish while rotating on a dryer, or by manual rotation and then place in a dryer. So do you have the rod rotating with guides coming at you from the top or from the bottom (make sense?). Also, is the rod setup "handle-left" or "handle-right". Please specify if you apply with left hand or right hand. I am left handed and am starting to experiment with all the above to see if one way is easier or not.

Elrod the main concern is not what direction, speed etc but to find a system that works for you, perfect it and stay with it, thats not to say you can't try something different but stay with your system untill you have perfected a better one,use scrap for pratice.

I have got 2 motors, one goes each direction, doesn't really make a difference to me, except that I like the faster of the 2

For me, which direction the butt is on doesn't matter.

But I do like to have the top of the rod traveling away from me. It makes it easier for me to see the lay of the finish against the contrasting background.

I have a reversable turning motor, which I never use, but could.
