If you have found some inkjet inks that are fade resistant, I'd like to know what they are. I used to make a lot of inkjet decals, but lately have not been able to trust them for fade resistance. Canon ink.

Hey there, new user here.
Anyone have pics of a rod with their self made stickers on them? I can't see anything but a white background sticker working for something printed with inkjet, unless it's a light colored blank or you lay down some white thread as a background. I ordered some of the white vinyl from Papillio, figured it might be worth a shot.

I use clear paper and put a wrap behind then some photos under my name.

I use the method described by David Rogers in this post: Quick, cheap, and extremely effective.

Unfortunately the PDF file link no longer works.
Basically the following steps:

1. wrap a bright metallic underwrap (silver/gold)
2. design your logo using a tool like GIMP. Faded color regions look especially nice. It should be slightly wider than your underwrap.
3. print on clear waterslide paper with your inkjet printer using highest quality
4. give it a few minutes to dry, then spray the paper with Krylon fixative or clear
5. wait 10 min (or heat gently with a heat gun)
6. cut logo out of page - the tiptop side of the logo should be slightly narrower than butt side
7 put logo in lukewarm water for 60 seconds
8. slide onto blank, dab with coffee filter or paper towel and let dry
9. epoxy

Thanks Rick. I've seen something like that on another forum or maybe just an image search where the guy used a wrap first. Do you have to coat the threads prior to applying the water slide paper? Seems like you might get air underneath it if you didn't.

Alan, this rod has the area between the butt knob and the rear ramp covered with an inkjet decal on white Papillio vinyl media and the ramps are inkjet decals on Papillio transparent peel and stick media.

No need to coat the metallic thread. As the waterslide decal dries it squeezes all the air out.
