Anyone used the Lamiglass Fiberglass fly blanks, and how did you like them? How do they rate compared to other glass fly blanks in their range?

The Fenwick glass fly rod blanks were very nice and probably stack up fairly well even with more modern glass blanks today. They were rated fairly for 30 to 40 feet line past the tip and the Fenglass Models were very popular in their day. If you're wanting a glass fly rod and can get a good deal on an old Fenwick, I think it's worth a shot.

The older Lamiglas S glass (they are a sort of translucent honey brown color with brown/grey spigot ferrules) are real nice casting rods. You'll see blanks show up on the @#$%& sites now and then. The newer Lamiglas (Yellow blank) are not in my opinion as good as the old stuff. I have cast a few models of each and the older ones are better. The new stuff is just too soft for my taste, especially in the longer and heavier line weights.

You might want to check out the Fiberglass Fly Rodders Forum, there are lots of posts about Lamiglas and several of the members on that forum have a deep knowledge base of their blanks.

How you like them depends upon what you want them to do: create nostalgia, resist breakage, fight big fish, cast 30, 60, or 90 feet, reduce fatigue from casting, provide a slow action for less critical timing of the cast or setting the hook, be less susceptible to breakage, etc. There is always a lot of compromise involved when you select a blank, depending upon your priorities.

I have 2 rods I built on the yellow, multi pieced Lamiglas blanks. Both are good rods. One is 8 ft, the other 7.5, I prefer the casting qualities of my much older Fenwick FF75 though. The Lamiglas blanks I have are light and are very slow action. I actually prefer graphite blanks in the lighter line weights and these fiberglas rods never get fished any more.

Prices of Lami fly blanks have shot up in the last year or so. They used to be pretty reasonably priced-- around $100; they're about $160 today. They are two piece tip over butt ferruled. They are slow and soft. Perfect for small flies, small stream work where casts of 40' or less are required. I like the 7' 3wt. For the same price you can get a Steffen glass blank. A great value in glass blanks. And a totally different blank. Steffens IMO are on the quick side, as glass goes, almost the opposite of the Lami.

All depends on what you like in a rod, and what you'll use it for.

Lamiglas made various versions of fiberglass fly blanks. Bill Hickey mentioned versions. I test cast one of the more popular ones long ago, a friend's rod, and it seemed very whippy to me, i wasn't quite fond of it, but i was casting at a park. I later picked up a Lamiglas fly blank on closeout back around 2008, model CGF 904, a two piece 7'-6" tip over butt design in a rich amber color, i believe they were called Spring Creek, but could be wrong. Very different action. I have yet to wrap it but they were a different feel than the most popular models.

so it all depends on which Lamiglas fiberglass fly blank you're comparing to. There were at least three, not to mention a hybrid fiberglass/graphite model they once offered.
