Hey guys I need some help.
I have a guy that wants a Perch (yellow- lake erie) rod to use on his boat, fishing in 40 ft of water. He requests that if have a sensitive tip to feel the lite perch bite, yet have a stiff enough back bone that its snappy enough to not miss the bite since he's fishing so deep. Also he wants it to be 2 pc. and 6 or 6 1/2 ft. His rods now work great for 18 - 20 ft. of water, but miss for the deeper water. Anybody be able to point me in the right direction for what he needs? Thanks in advance. Mark Warnke Black Swamp Custom Rods Re: Perch rod help.

Mark, IMO St. Croix and MHX are in different classes all together with St. Croix being MUCH better. Re: Perch rod help.

Depends on which St Croix you are talking about. The St Croix V is top of the line, and is an excellent blank. However, you can buy almost three MHX blanks for the price of one St Croix V. St Croix's lower grade blanks are also nice blanks but not a whole lot of difference between them and the MHX blanks. It seems that every one has their favorites. In my opinion MHX blanks are a very good buy, Been building on them for years with no problems or complaints. Have also built on a lot of other brands with very few problems or complaints. There are a lot of good blanks in today's market, you just need to try some to see which ones fit your needs.
