There is always the possibility also that someone out there could have an identical blank for which may be able to pe purchased from them, thus negating the the problem with building a new complete rod, just use the tip section Ron Weber Re: Rod Warranty Replacement

With lots of rod companies that have limited lifetime warranties, which is a good thing for builders and customers alike. But as Tom stated, if it was a defect with the rod, it would show up early in the rods fishing life. With the rod being a few years old, the rod company has no way of telling how much a rod has been used or not during it's life before a break.
If the break occurred in the first year, no doubt you would be able to get the same blank. Not sure how rod companies look at blanks that are 4,5 & 6 or more years old and how "limited lifetime warranties" are handled?? I guess the longer I build and use the rods I've made, I might and will see what happens. Hope not, but I'm sure I will at sometime. Getting a replacement, even if it is a lower model blank, would be better than nothing. Sure I would prefer to get another RX7 blank vs a RX6 blank if possible. May not be offered and then you have the choice to take what they are giving or move on without a replacement. Re: Rod Warranty Replacement

On behalf of the people for whom I make rods , I have submitted a number of warranty claims to several different manufacturers and have not been turned down yet. Most were broken within the first year of use. I tell the person that only the blank has a limited life time warranty and the manufacturer will make the decision as to whether or not it is a defect or user abuse, not me. I think on a couple of occasions the rods were broken accidentally but the claims where honored none the less. I think almost all of the manufactuers do this to maintain good customer relations; a happy customer is a repeat customer. However, I must say most fisherman who knowingly break a rod by accident or abuse do not want to submit a warranty claim, and take resonsibility. Finally, I think it is important to mention that if a blank requires prior registration to activate the warranty make sure to register it.
