Hi Stuart- There is one new company that I know of that's making roller guides similar to Aftco. All-American Roller Guides is the company's name. They appear to be very similar to Aftco HD's, but sorry to say no ball bearings. They use the standard type lube-impregnated/coated bushing like Aftco HD and Pac-Bay rollers.

There is one other option in BB rollers, but they are closer to the FinNor guide in terms of looks. They are made by Everol, have 2 BB's per roller, and machined aluminum frame. Excellent quality. They go for $200 per set of five, and suit 80# and heavier trolling rods.

All-American website is "ww.allamericanrollerguides.com"
Everol website is "www.everol.com"

I have the Everol's in stock but not the All American's.

Good luck in your search!

Hi Stuart,

We have a new roller guide in stock in a heavy duty style. We have them in Black, Chrome and Frosted (hard Chrome).

They don't feature ball bearings but they do have an all stainless frame instead of nickel silver, a hi carbon hard chromed stainless steel roller, a teflon coated bearing and all stainless screws.

There will be a big foot style out some time in the spring but they will not have ball bearings either.

If you want any additional info email me I'll forward pictures and specs.

Regards, Joe Meehan, Amtak Components

In one of the older issues of Rodmaker there were some guides featured that allowed you to remove the roller part from the frame for cleaning or maintainence. Looked pretty cool. I think they are the Altecnous guides from Italy. Would love to know where to buy some or just see a set.
