I compare it to throwing a spinnerbait/finesse jig, and I like a 6'9" MH rod for that. I usually use 15 or 17lb fluorocarbon, also. Short enough for roll casts, long enough for a good hookset and long casts.

When it comes to blanks I know others will have great suggestions, it also depends on what you want to spend on it, too. Rainshadow RX7 series, and the MHX series would be where I first look. I know for a dirt cheap blank the CRB 7' Light action might be worth a look, I have seen it suggested for a worm rod. And you could hack off a little from the butt end to make it 6'9 or 6'10.

I throw 1/4 oz swim jigs here in the Kansas City area, and this setup works good for me.

What size jigs are you using and lb test? Also are you fan casting, roll casting, or pitching one more than another?

Batson Revelation 6'8" or 7'2" Medium casting not a bad choice.

Thanks - Marc

Keep it simple - that's all I can handle!

Bushido SWB710/12-25 7'10" Swim Bait Mod - Fast Heavy. Is a good blank.

Either MHX Elite Pro -- EPS86MHF or EPS86HF, all acccording to the pound test being used and whether you are fishing more in open type water conditions or heavy cover.

I like a 3 or 4 power moderate to fast action rod for throwing swim jigs 1/4oz to 3/8oz. My favorite is built on a Castaway MB844XP3, which is more like a 3 power. I use 30# braid with that setup. It is spiral wrapped and casts and fishes great. I think any rod that you like for small spinnerbaits would be about right.
