Shorter 6 and 7 wt. fly blanks

The other post on bass fly rods got me thinking. Can you guys name any shorter - 8'6" and under 6 wt. and 7 wt. fly blanks? 8'6" 6 wt. is findable, less so in 7 wt., and under 8'6" they both get harder to find.

Thanks - Marc

Keep it simple - that's all I can handle!

Hi Marc,

A couple I know are Pac Bay's Rainforest and Tradition 2 blanks but they are 6 weights, and two piece.

Like Herb said, CTS, there are several tapers to choose from as well as lengths. Really cannot go wrong with a CTS, either Graphite or Glass. I build on them and I fish them, a lot.

Steffen Brothers and Epic also have some neat Glass in "bass" sizes and shorter lengths too.

Marc,
A 6' to 8' light action spinning rod blank makes a good short fly rod.
Depending on the blank it should throw a 7 or 8 weight fly line.
Good fun for poppers and bubblers for bass and gills.
