If they are Glass, 2 or 3 piece, and that also goes for the majority of my customers too. Graphite, I really don't build many of them that short.

I only build fly rods, and have not built a 2 pc in about 6 years. Most of my customers fly a lot to fish and they want short sections for convenient travel, especially for airline carry-on.

Marc,
I prefer 1 piece and 2 piece blanks.
Lighter, more efficient transfer of energy.
Convenience falls behind performance in priority.
How many anglers have connections dis-assemble during fishing conditions ?
Most embarrassing.
I invest the savings in better rod cases.

Generally speaking - If it's Glass 2 or 3 piece and if it's Graphite 4 piece.

Multi-piece rods have gotten so good that if you blindfolded the angler, not one in a hundred could accurately guess between the single, 2-piece or 4-piece.

Having said that, there is little reason to opt for more pieces than needed for breakdown for transport.

Keep it simple. 2 piece fly rods get around just fine, unless you are packing in.
