Which spray paint would you use for a graphite blank? Thanks Re: blank painting

I have had good success with Krylon Fusion. It's supposed to be good on plastic and has some ability to flex. But to be honest I can't be sure that any good quality enamel wouldn't be just as good. I just know this has worked pretty well for me. Re: blank painting

Any of the Krylon Fusion has worked for me without any issues in 3 years since I've been using it. I will do a bit of prep to the blank by lightly scuffing and then finish with a coat of the Clear Gloss Fusion. Works and looks pretty damn good. Re: blank painting

I clear coat after using Krylon as well. Also, after I put on one coat I lightly sand the blank and do another, this ususally fills in mostt the gaps. Takes about 6-7 days to "fully" dry. Re: blank painting

I called Krylon and told me 5 days minimum before using a clear coat .. Tom Re: blank painting

It would be wise to use an automotive enamel along with automotive urethane clear. It lays on nice, hard, flexable and not easy to chip. Phil Re: blank painting

As Bill said the Duplicolor line is durable and flexible. Plus the array of colors is endless. As with any paint the prep before hand is very important. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: blank painting

Hello,
Those of you doing a clear-coat over Krylon Fusion, are you using the Krylon spray can clear or two-part automotive? -chad Re: blank painting

Harry,
If you have a plain unpainted blank - I would personally leave it alone. I just see no need to add paint where the only thing it is going to do, is to change the color and add weight. But, if you have a need for a blank of a different color - then all of the suggestions listed above make sense. Be safe Re: blank painting

And Rodgeeks offers a beautiful blank in almost any color you want. In the past year I have had orders for almost 30 rods in every color you can imagine. Once I show someone their samples of the blanks, they are sold. It gives endless possibilities on what you can do in making a rod. It doesn't appear that weight is the main concern as much as looks and performance. And most comment on the C4's how light they are ?? Tom Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
