Good afternoon everyone,
i have a neighbor who wants me to build him a rod for trolling plug cut herring for salmon. It must be 9 ft long and be able to handle 6-8 ounces. I have a All Star PRSA 1086-2 that I got back when Andy Dear was selling all of his All Star blanks. Would this blank be alright for this application? Thx-Pat Re: Plug Cut Herring Rod

The best Salmon rod i have ever used is the Lamiglas XCC 1112H 9' 3" line 15-30 Lure 1-8 oz. in fact I am building one right now. this rod is very versatile I have used it mooching, trolling rivers such as the Willamette and Columbia. the problem is the blank is hard to get takes about 3 weeks but worth the wait. I don't know if the wait is because of the demand or the problems Lamaglas seems to be having at this time. don't mean to sound like a Lamiglas commercial but I love this rod. Have not been able to find another blank matching these specs.Hope this helps. Re: Plug Cut Herring Rod

Thanks Jerry. That gives me some guidelines on which blank to use. Re: Plug Cut Herring Rod

The Allstar blank will troll that much weight and also a pink lady type diver. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
