Hi all! I have decided to get a renzetti machine after all. I have never heard anything bad about them. I was wondering if they make a thread carriage that can hold 4oz cones of thread? I'm looking at the website and can't tell thanks!!

Mike
You can put a 4oz spool on the carriage with a little work.

Hello Mike -

Bill is correct - Renzetti makes a 'large spool attachment' that allows you to use the 4 oz spools. Like all of their products it is very well designed and well executed and works great. It is essentially a larger threaded rod that replaces two of the rods that come on the thread carriage. You can also use this attachment and your lathe to respool from your 4 oz spools onto regular sized or pro-sized spools under tension using your thread carriage.

You can also easily build out a modification to use the large spool attachment sort of 'off lathe' as well.

Here is the link:

Hope this helps.

Mike the threaded rods the carriage come with are held in place with a set screw. The threaded rod can be extended over to one side. With a couple shims you may get by.

I have two of the Renzetti/Clemens lathes and bought one of the newer thread carriages to put on one of them. I much prefer the older carriage that I got through Dale. On the new one the up-right holding the spools sits at about a 20 degree cant to the left. It works OK, but the cant just should not be there. The Clemens carriage is much smoother to move also.
