This is my first shot at a 7' , 3 piece rainshadow spinning rod. Ive put a size 7 guide where the c/l of the reel would cross the blank, from there i've placed a further 4 guides , as per a static test, to the tip(2 size 7 then 2 size 6) . From the size 7 choke guide back to the butt I have a size 16 then a size 30.
The distances from the tip are: 11.5, 12, 14.5, 17.5, 26, 30, 28.5.
Can someone who knows about spinning rods comment on my placement and size choice.
Thanks in advance
john

Sounds like you did it right, but why the 2 #7's and then 2 #6's? I just run 4 # 6's if it was me. Without your reel and blank in my hands I could not say for sure if you are exactly right but it sounds like you did it correctly.

I don't understand the measurements though. The first guide back from the tip should always be like 4 or 5 inches at most. Then you are showing a guide at 30 and then 28.5. Don't understand it.
