bob,
check the 7ft rods you have. the ones i bought were 3wt. that was what was marked on the rods and i still have two of them left unbuilt. the only 4wt i got were 7.5ft and they are on the light side of 4wt. just thought i would let you know. the 6.5ft 3wt is still my favorite small stream rod. about a month ago i was fishing with it and cought a 2 inch fish and within mintues caught a 20 inch rainbow. it took a while but the rod landed the fish for me. it is a shame more people do not try these wonderful little rods. you hook the fish, holdthe rod up at a 45 degree angle and let the rod play the fish. tom drury Re: LAMIGLAS 4 pc. You are exactly right. I stand corrected. The 7' models are 3 wt. blanks. Your in put is also appreciated about these sweet little babies!! Always good to have customers that know as much about what you have, as you do yourself. They keep you on your toes!! Thanks Tom! Bob McKamey -- Custom Tackle Supply Re: LAMIGLAS 4 pc. These blanks have become the best selling blank in our fly line, and are rivaling some others. I would like to share part of a letter I received yesterday from one customer. Todd: After putting together an FL7839 that I got just after the National seminar, I've got to send you a fan letter. It's a great little rod; and it's "little" only in terms of its length. I got it together in time to take it to Montana with me for the week of June 11th because I wanted to see how it fished in a real fishy environment. Especially in comparison with the two 4-piece (7-weight & 8-weight) rods which I usually use there on the Madison. And it did very well. I rigged it with a 4-weight line, consistent with my usual practice of my peculiar style of casting being most happy with one line weight heavier than a rod's rating. I was having no problem in putting out at least half the casting line. More when needed. Which wasn't often, because my favorite guide is savvy enough to put me within easy short casts of where I should be. Weather and other things prevent me from reporting catching large browns or 'bows, but in the one full day that I fished it, I did hook, play, and land 5 or 6 whitefish. The top two of these were each about 3 pounds, too. Of course, I didn't know until they were almost at the boat that they weren't trout, anyway. And the rod handled them summarily. I receive letters like this about this series of blanks more than any other blank we make. If you are riding the fence....take advantage before Bob is out.
