I have a customer who wants a Gloomis blank with a light to medium action and a fast tip. He doesn't want a 7 foot rod but something shorter like 6'8 or 6'10. Can I cut some inches off the but end? He will be using this for speckled trout and redfish in the Texas bays. What would you guys recommend? Thanks in advance! Re: Help with a Blank

I would suggest a Graphite USA popping rod blank, the reason why I say this is because they usually fish off a pier and hafe to hoist the fish up about 3 foot.. If you cutt off the butt end of a GLoomis that voids the warranty.. Thanks Dave Re: Help with a Blank

I don't understand the question, I must admit. He wants a fast tip, which means a fast action rod, but then says he wants a light (?) to medium action? Sounds to me like what he wants is a fast action blank with light to medium power. With that assumption I'd look at the P842 in GL3 or whatever they will call it now. Great blank. Cutting a couple inches off the butt isn't going to affect it noticeably. I have several of these and they are really, really nice blanks. ............................... Re: Help with a Blank

Lamigals's popping blanks are great. I use them for the same thing (only on the Outer Banks of NC). They are fast, but have them for lighter line, which I would suggest for speckled trout Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
