Hi fellow rod builders,

What are your tips and tricks on shaping Hypalon? This would be would be directly from the blank. After shaping the desire shape, what is the best way to get all the hypalon dust off the grip competely? Im stil in learning process and what to hear what other rod builders do with this method, and so far I tape the grip with masking tape and peel it off to get the dust which you cant see by the naked eye. The tape method takes too long. Any tips and tricks.

Happy wrapping

Trung

Trung,

When starting from the blank of Hapalon, I use a Surform planer to quickly remove the blank to the rough shape of the grip. The planer takes the material down very quickly. Just use a light touch when getting close to avoid removing too much material.

I use a an air compressor with 120 PS and a blow gun to remove the bulk of the dust.
Then, I take a paper towel that is saturated in DNA to remove the rest. It takes a couple of moments to have the grip clean as a whistle.

Take care
Roger
