HOOKS FOR KEEPS

While reading the post on hook inlay, I thought about mabye wrapping a gold hook into the butt wrap, reshaping it a bit in order to have it double as a hook keeper.Does anyone already do this? does it sound like a good idea or is there some reason to avoid this idea. Appreciate any input. Thanks

Sounds like a novel concept to me. Somebody has to be first. Go for it.

Neat idea! I agree with Jim though. make sure you get a stainless one. Also other that smashing the barb and making it a "up eye" hook you should be able to secure it without much manipulation. Sounds fun! I might have to try that on my next rod

There is an article in an old Rodcrafters Journal (1989-1990?) about this. The hooks were bent and shaped to suit.

sounds cool, what about one with a real big eye, then cut and shape it, so you can wrap it so it looks like it's hooked into the blank?

Jim, gold doesn't rust either. Much better than stainless. I reckon it'd look good with a gold hook. *wink*
