Questions from the RD resident dummy

Well here I am again asking questions.BTW thanks to all who responded to my last post. Great help believe me!
(1) What kinds of experience have any of yu-awl had with the Fuji "plate type" reelseat and what size thread or whatever do you use to secure it to the blank? I've seen them on rods at tackle shows but never seen one on a rod being fished. To me they look kinda flimsy and also look like they're quite suspect when it comes to salt and sand.
(2) Has anyone ever used mono fishing line to wrap guides on with? One of my sons wants me to build/rebuild a rod of his with one of those aforementioned reelseats and wants me to use Offshore Angler Hi-Vis mono on the reelseat and the guides, because he thinks it would look good on his the black/dark grey blank. He also wants me to glue and wrap on a trigger as well. If it were anyone but my son I'd just say no but can't do that with either one of them. They 're all good guys & gal and thankfully we're quite close. ( All of us fishing/camping/hunting together had a BIG part in the closeness. So if you got 'em take'em it'll help make 'em)
(3) how do you all who use U-40 Perma Gloss like it vs their latest offering?
Well gentle folk I will cease with the questions at least for the time being and will await the great info I know I'll get. Thanks to all before hand. Warren

The Fuji plate type seats are actually pretty darn strong. They hold a reel like there is no tomorrow! I wrap 'em with black size D thread and finish over with my epoxy wrap finish. Never had one come loose or a reel come off. Good product. I have used the black ones, the #7 I think. Don't know if they still make that one and my supply is almost gone.

I can't compare the LS Supreme to the Permagloss as they are just too different finishing types. Both have their place I suppose and both shine in different areas.
