Straight edge method

I'm fairly new to rod building and was wondering what the "straight edge method" for locating the choke point was. I read it in an earlier post, and was hoping someone could explain it to me.

Thanks,

John

John,

With your reel seat mounted, install the reel you will use on the rod. Align the reel spool centerline with a table edge. This will normally put the rod at an angle that will intersect the table edge at some point along its length. That is the spot where the choke guide should be located.

You can read all about how to properly set up the New Guide Concept in the July/August 2000 of RodMaker.
