well just wanted to get your opinions, it's been a while since i built a rod and this is my first saltwater rod, it's a 7'2"(don't ask) calstar 270H, handle will be cork tape and shrink tube. and was wondering where my stripper guide should be set at, how many in. from reel should it be?
was also wondering where i can find other types of wraps for my but wrap. like i said been a while. thanks luis Re: guide placement 7' boat rod

Why not do a static stress test, what size guides are you using and how meny?
Good Wraps Bob PS Rule of thumb for every foot of rod you need a guide plus 1. I recomend 8 guides Re: guide placement 7' boat rod

You can always use the butt guide spacing from another similar rod you have that you know works well.
You do not want the line down on your hand or foregrip under full load. Spacing and guide height should be set so that this doesn't happen. ............ Re: guide placement 7' boat rod
