I hope this aint a stupid question, but how do you use the madiera spool thread 40wt when doing decorative wraps. does it attach to the rodsmith wrapper thread carriage. the madiera spool is huge so how can you do butt wraps with it or is the spool more for guide wraps. Re: madiera spool

I use mine just the way they are both for guide wraps and decorative wraps, but if they do not fit on your wrapper, then just download some onto a regular spool and use it on your wrapper that way.

I use the "old style" Pac Bay carriage for Madeira. It has four vertical thread posts and a disc type tensioner, where the new style carriage has the two horizontal posts with spring tension.
Both can be viewed on this page --> [] Mark Griffin [] C&M Custom Tackle San Dimas, California Re: madiera spool

Transfer to a smaller empty spool that fits the carraige you have. NERB that types with a bar of Ivory soap in his mouth. Re: madiera spool

By decroateive wraps do you mean like trim band. What size spools are you using? On my Pack Bay I just placed a sleave over my up right posts

You can also set the spool somewhere below and run the thread through the friction tensioner. It will feed just fine. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
