I have encountered a situation(fishing) that is going to require some ingenuity, me thinks. I have found a place(not telling where) trout, stripers, bluefish, and even flounder feed like crazy during the 1st hour or so of the ebb tide. After that might as well fish in a bowling alley. I don't own a boat and to cast from shore is about a 50-60yd cast. There are a number of options as I see it and as usual I've chosen the one that's most challenging. I want to use a glass tip and a graphite butt in a fly rod blank. I'll have to buy 2 different blanks and that's ok too. I'll probably build this as a spinner using 8 or 10 lb line(mono). My question is what fly rod weight correlates to lures in the 1/4 -1oz category? I know Clemens book had something about this in it but I can't find my book, I Loaned it out a long time ago and never got it back. So I need help.Recommendations please!!!!!! I was going to say 8-weight so that's pretty close. Course that's at the upper end. 1/4 ounce lures would require closer to a 4 weight. Re: fly rod line wt. vs lure wt and line test

Warren, Why not look at the steelhead/salmon blanks out there? Rainshadow or Lamiglas probably has a blank to fit the bill (pretty close I bet) Good Luck . PS: Things are peaking in N.E. those stripers are not going to stay north much longer! Re: fly rod line wt. vs lure wt and line test

Thks Warren, for asking this question, I was wondering the same thing. I need a rod with the exact lure weight and was looking at Excel 12w 3-piece so I can keep it in my car all the time, 8w would save me a few bux, thks. HungsNg. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
