Hi-vis spray paint on blank?

A local hardware store has numerous colors in the hi-vis spray paiint - the really bright colors with some kind of reflective agent build in. I thought it would be good for a bait rod to help a kid watch and see if the tip twitches. Will this type paint work on a surface that flexes like a rod blank? I'm thinking the tip-most 4 to 6 inches.

It'll work good but you need to spray a couple of coats of white before the hi - vis paint to get the full effect of the flourescent paint.

The problem with most of the hi-vis florescent paints is that they fade quickly so I would use a top coat with uv inhibitors

isnt there a flourescent wrapping thread out there? and if so, would that work better. if there is such a thing, would any of the wrapping chemicals i.e. cp, finish, take away the flourescent properties?

I've been using KRYLON FUSION (for plastic) for some time on catfish rods for night fishing. I use the yellow and the white on both fiberglass and graphite rods. It's not florescent but it really is visible in these two colors and is flexible enough to not affect rod action. I just wipe the rod with regular alcohol first and then apply the paint. I buy the paint at Lowes and WalMart but be sure to get the one marked for plastic
