Heelo to all,
My Brother in law would like me to build him a yellow spinning rod. What he is looking for is two piece or one medium action fresh water. Any help on locating or is it possible to paint a blank ?
Thanks in advance,
Mark Schulte

Mark,

I am not aware of any graphite blanks finished in yellow. There are some fiberglass blanks that still come in a yellow or gold color. It is certainly possible to paint a blank. Do a search on this board's archives to locate information on "painting" and "blank finishing" to find the info you need.

Be aware that altering a blank's finish may, and likely will, void any warranty on the blank.

Mark, even though I believe performance should be the major factor in building a rod, I suppose color may be a choice...
Check out the Lamiglas fiberglass "Honey" Freshwater blanks.

If you don't mind stripping and re-wrapping, try to locate an older Wright & McGill/Eagle Claw spinning rod in the size/rating your B-I-L is requesting. I've done a couple of old surf rods and salmon mooching rods with the older fiberglass blanks. They are different in appearance. Very parabolic since they are fiberglass. For mooching, they work great. Some old timers recognize the rods, but are happy to see the new wrap designs and colors. Hypalon or traditional cork look good on these too.
