Underwraps and the New Concept Guide system

I sure this question has been asked, but I can't find a reference in the past threads to aswer my question concerning underwraps when using both Double and Single foot guides. I have always used underwraps when I put on guides (both double and single foot) On double foot guides the underwraps are seen between the feet. On single foot guides my underwraps are never seen. So... when I use both types of guides on a rod, I'm wondering how you all handle this. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you want to keep the cosmetics in line and I think that is what you are after, then just extend your underwrap on the single foot guides a tad so the second color shows up at each end.

I don't use underwraps and really wouldn't with this new concept deal since less weight is something you're after but if I did I would just extend the wraps a tad. You might even consider just making the underwraps on the double footed guides separate and just under each guide wrap instead of all the way across the middle of the guide. That would also look more consistent with the single foot underwraps. Just my opinion.

I agree with Mick on the weight issue, although I have wrapped some of the 1st few double guides using a false underwrap(a wrap inbetween guide feet, before guide is wrapped)that looks like a underwrapped guide that can match your trim band colors , looks like a true underwrapped guide but less weight.Just something to think about.

Thank you for your replies. This will give me a little more to think about. Your absolutely right about the weight increase- kind-of defeats the purpose (underwraps) but I've never built a rod yet with out them so -I'm learning. Thanks again - Until next time
