Has anyone used Stabond to adhere the reel seat or grip to a blank? I have “inherited†a quart and there are no instructions on the can. My main question is should I use the stuff full stength or should it be thinned? Thanks in advance. Greg Re: Stabond Adhesive

I don’t use it personally but Doc Ski does in his video and he is a proponent of its’ use. In general, Stabond is rubber cement. Apply it to the blank and inside of the grip, let it dry a little, then position the grip on the rod above where it touches, then pour acetone down the inside of the grip and slide the grip on in one continuous motion. The acetone re-activates the Stabond (and thins is slightly) allowing the grip to slide down the blank. A simpler way (and not nearly as messy) is to use U40 rod bond. Hope that helps. Doc uses it with good results. Personally, I think the use of any of the proven 2-part epoxy adhesives coupled with the proper assembly technique is as strong or stronger and far less messy. The book I did I did for Amato as well as previous issues of the magazine have featured a strong and easy way to accomplish these tasks. ........................... Re: Stabond Adhesive

Since I do not like waste, I'll have to deal with the mess until the can in empty. Thanks for the directions and feedback. -Greg. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
