after i have finished the actual middle of my wrap, how do i wrap the ends of the wrap. if i do a chevron, everytime i spiral wrap the ends, the spiral wrap is not perfectly round. its hard to keep the wrap from gapping, so i am scared to put any type of finish on it.

I usually go up and tack down, and then start again and go up to the other side and tack down. Trying to go up and then spiral around and back down is hard to do and always seemed to slip on me.

If you are talking about tying off the ends you do that just like you are making a guide wrap. Wrap a few turns and then cut a few threads. Wrap a few turns and then cut off a few threads. Always make your tie-off wraps going away from the center of your decorative wrap. Make one at each end.

I hope I understood your question. I am far from an expert on these wraps but somehow stumble through them to things that look pretty decent.

I find that if I coat the wrap with color preserver it will hold the wrap to the blank so that I can clean up the ends to a taper with a sharp knife and wrap the ends to hold them. This makes it very easy to wrap the ends because the color preserver does not allow the wrap to unwravel. In the end it ends up looking good.
