Which Adhesive?

I would like to know what the prefered adhesive is for mounting rubber butt caps to cork.

Thanks,
Jeff Leonard

Jeff:

Try Rod Bond by U-40. This is a thick epoxy that stays where you place it. It is a slow cure, but is the top material for bonding rod parts extant.

I use Rod Bond to secure the butt cap to cork on my surf rods. Once it sets-up it would take a small explosion to break it free.

I agree. If you glue up any number of different materials (cork, EVA, rubber, wood) with rod bond and then flex everything to the breaking point, it will not break on a joint but most likely in the middle of a cork ring. In most cases, you will deform metal parts before the Rod Bond joint between them will break. And these are my observations of bonding strength WITHOUT a water break free surface. Once I switched to Rod Bond and noticed these things, I don't worry about water break free surfaces anymore. The materials themselves will give way before the bond does.
