I am getting ready to build out three graphite blanks...two Lamiglas and one H & H. None of these blanks came with the little rubber plugs in the male ends of the blank sections. I've asked the helpful folks at Mud Hole about availablility of these little plugs, and they tell me they are a manufacturer item, not available through the retail sources. They suggest fabricating them myself from cork. I've received similar responses from other local rodbuilders. This sounds pretty tedious. Can anyone help with advise about materials and methods to use for this problem ? Thank you. HW

Anglers Workshop has rubberized cork plugs in a few sizes, give them a call.

You can also make a facsimile by plugging the ends with Rod Bond. It will serve the same purpose, perhaps even better.

I take old cork to make my plug and glue it with rod bond. You do not need mich cork, say about a 32nd. of a inch.

I use the rubber plugs from automotive supply stores. They are for repairing tires with nail holes etc.

Using expoy or hard materials may cause a stress riser in ferrule. The rod blank goes into an elipitical shape when flexed. A rubber or soft material for the plug will flex in the same shape as the rod blank.

That is exactly why I mentioned Rod Bond. It's properties make it excellent for this task. If you want to get very technical in this sort of thing, Rod Bond may be the very best thing to fashion such plugs out of.
