Hi guys, I just found this board and have been amazed at the amount of good information contained here, I will be back often. My question is this, I have a bamboo flyrod to redo for a friend, are there any special do's and don'ts I need to be aware of? Re: Bamboo flyrod question

Jeff, Yes, there are a few do's and dont's when restoring bamboo rods. First of all, do take careful notes before you start. Be sure to note guide placement, thread colors, and so on. Do be sure you aren't taking away from any historical value the rod might have. Do know what you are working on before you start. Don't round off the corners of the bamboo. Don't use inferior materials to save a few dollars. Don't make the rod into something it was not designed to be. In addition to Mike Sinclair's book mentioned above, you might seratch out a copy of Stuart Kirkfield's book on restoring bamboo rods as well. Sinclair deals mostly with working man's rods. Kirkfield focuses on the Master's. Hope this helps, Harry Boyd Re: Bamboo flyrod question
